Stockholm is Sweden’s capital and with over 1.8 million residents—its largest city. The city is located on 14 islands all connected by bridges in Lake Malaren. Outside of Stockholm and into the Baltic Sea is the Stockholm archipelago which comprises some 24,000 islands that can be explored by ferry. Dating as far back as the 12th century, Stockholm is a combination of old world charm and modern vitality. Stroll through Gamla Stan, the old area of Stockholm to delight in the cobblestone streets, stucco buildings, the Royal Palace, and the Swedish Parliament. For a more modern and trendy Stockholm experience visit Sodermalm, an area known for its restaurants, cafes, boutiques, and specialty shops.
Academics
In order to have an idea of what classes are available, you should visit the Stockholm University website. You can use the tool bar to search courses based on language of instruction (English or Swedish) and course level. You should select ”First level” for undergraduate/bachelor studies.
Swedish Language Classes
For students who do not speak Swedish, it is recommended that you enroll in a Swedish language class. The Swedish language course will also give you an introduction to Swedish culture. Students with previous knowledge in Swedish can take a placement test to confirm their level.
You will need to be sure that you are registered as a full time student according to Stockholm University and Rutgers University. That means you will need to take at least 24-30 ECTS credits (12-15 RU credits) each semester. Thus, most students take four to five classes a term at Stockholm University. It is not possible to take classes as not-for-credit or pass/fail.

Housing and Meals
As a special service Stockholm University assists students from partner universities with accommodations. The Housing Office manages a limited number of rooms in Stockholm, so upon acceptance to the Stockholm University program students will be instructed on how to apply for housing.
