Yoga center

Students will be housed in the Isha Yoga Center. The center is situated at the foothills of Velliangiri, on the outskirts of Coimbatore City, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the headquarters of the Sadhguru Academy for Leadership, Management, and Public Policy, which offers executive education to business executives worldwide. Students will stay at the Center for the duration of the program and take day trips outside of it.  

Isha Vidhya is a rural school that offers high-quality education to rural children who cannot otherwise access or afford it. Students will organize a three-half-day camp for the children. 

Learn from business leaders and alums of the Sadhguru Academy how to become conscious leaders who operate from a sense of inclusiveness.  

Visit farmers for sustainability and the Save Soil movement.

Isha Vidhya Rural School

Isha Vidhya offers rural education to impoverished children. Acquiring work-related skills gives them hope and alleviates poverty. As part of this program, students will organize a mini-camp for these children as a service-learning component.

Students will visit coconut farmers who practice sustainable agriculture and benefit from economic growth. 

Academics

The course will introduce the concept of conscious leadership, the classical science of yoga, the principles of inclusive innovations, and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students will study academic literature and research initiatives of conscious leadership and inclusive innovations. They will engage in experiential learning of classical yoga and a mini-service learning of organizing a camp for rural children. They will explore the connection between conscious leadership, yoga, and inclusive innovation. This is an elective course for students in the School of Management and Labor Relations and all students interested in leadership, innovation, and yoga for academic study and self-development.

Academic Calendar

Students will arrive on December 27th evening. Students will have to depart the U.S. on December 26th. Program itinerary starts on December 28th. 

Housing and Meals

Students will stay in the Isha Yoga Center’s Nalanda Conference Center with double occupancy. Three vegetarian meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and a snack are included for most days, except for days of field trips.

The above costs are estimations and represent the known out-of-pocket costs students encounter during their time abroad.

Some of these expenses will be paid for prior to going abroad, such as an airline ticket, while some of these expenses, such as meals and personal expenses, will be paid in-country as part of your daily expenses. As you plan, you will need to budget these costs and spend wisely throughout your time abroad.

Faculty Leaders

Dr. Tracy F. H. Chang

Dr. Tracy F. H. Chang (1998, Ph.D., Sociology, University of Iowa; 2015, EMBA, Stern School of Business, New York University) is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of DEI (until July 2024) in the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University. Her research focuses on the role of the science of yoga in developing leaders and transforming higher education. She is a certified Isha Hatha Yoga Teacher and a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Teacher

Dr. Rebecca L. Greenbaum

Dr. Rebecca L. Greenbaum (2009, Ph.D., Business Administration, University of Central Florida) is a Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University. Her research focuses on behavioral ethics, dysfunctional leadership, and organizational justice.  

Ryan J. Greenbaum

Ryan J. Greenbaum (2014, MBA, Oklahoma State University) is a teaching instructor and the Director of the Human Resource Management Undergraduate Program at the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University. He teaches courses in Management, Organizational Behavior, and Ethical Leadership
