Join us for the Study Abroad Fall Fair and Access the World!

Rutgers students studying abroad in Athens
Thursday, October 27th

Join us on November 15th at the College Avenue Student Center for our in-person Study Abroad Fair. We’ll have more than 50 tables filled with information on all our study abroad, service learning, and internship opportunities, as well as food, giveaways, and prizes, like scholarships.

Rutgers Global is hosting the Fall Study Abroad Fair on November 15, 2022, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the College Avenue Student Center on the New Brunswick campus. This fair offers all Rutgers students the opportunity to talk with advisors, faculty, and partners and learn about the many education abroad programs taking place all over the world.

A special highlight of the fair is our Access the World initiative, which offers a range of semester programs across the globe at or below the cost of a semester at Rutgers. As Lauren Meregalli Ferrer, Director of Study Abroad, states: “We want every Rutgers student to believe that studying abroad is possible and that it is an experience they can afford. At Rutgers, we are absolutely committed to access for all students, and we have a range of amazing global education opportunities available. Our hope is that by coming to the Fall Study Abroad Fair, students will be able to discover all the great programs we offer and will connect with advisors and resources to support their journey.”

One way students can learn more about the study abroad experience from a student perspective is to check out the videos posted by our Rutgers Global Study Abroad Media team on TikTok and Instagram. These videos are created by Rutgers students while in their study abroad programs and provide a sense of their day-to-day experiences, from being in the classroom, to dining in local restaurants, to day excursions, to learning the language and culture.

At the Fair, there will be more than 50 tables set up with information on both Rutgers faculty-led programs and short-term programs with partner institutions. “Our faculty-led programs are a great way for students to experience study abroad for a shorter timeframe than a full semester. These programs are offered during winter, spring, and summer breaks, and allow students to experience a different country and culture while traveling with a Rutgers professor and fellow classmates,” says Meregalli Ferrer. Many of Rutgers’ study abroad partners will be at the Fair to provide information and answer questions. Some of Rutgers Global’s partners include John Cabot University in Rome, Italy, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, and University of Auckland in Auckland, New Zeeland.

In addition to our faculty and partner advisors, there will also be Study Abroad staff at the fair who can help students navigate the course selection process to make sure credits abroad count toward their degrees. Financial advisors will be on hand, as well, and they can offer advice on scholarships, financial aid, and basic budgeting and planning for studying abroad. Did you know that Rutgers offers many scholarships for students studying abroad? Be sure to visit this page to learn more.

Beyond that, there will be delicious food, music, live performances, and plenty of giveaways and prizes during the Study Abroad Fair, including swag and study abroad scholarships.

Students can always browse our programs here on our website. Some key deadlines to keep in mind are December 1 for Spring embedded programs; March 1 for Summer, Fall, and academic year programs; and October 1 for Winter and Spring programs. “Be sure to check our website because some of our programs may have earlier deadlines and rolling admissions,” notes Meregalli Ferrer. “We hope our students start planning their study abroad adventure now—and a great way to do that is by attending our Study Abroad Fair.”
