Programs & Opportunities
In the fall of 2012, the Centers for Global Advancement and International Affairs (GAIA Centers) invited faculty and staff from across disciplines and health fields at Rutgers and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey to join efforts in planning the 2013-2015 Biennial Theme Global Health!
Global health connections are apparent in all aspects of life. However, the solutions to global health challenges are not confined to those who study medicine or international affairs. Problems as wide-ranging as mental health, obesity, or HIV/AIDS will need solutions from across cities, continents, disciplines, professions, academic units, industries, and service organizations. With the integration of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey effective July 1, 2013, the Global Health! theme offers a timely opportunity for Rutgers University to harness the intellectual strengths of the humanities, social and life sciences; business, law, and economics; education, and the care professions with the biomedical sciences and related health professions.
