Rutgers Students Explore Global Education Opportunities at Fall Fair
Rutgers Global hosted its annual Study Abroad Fall Fair on September 16 in the Livingston Student Center and welcomed more than 600 students who came to learn about the 140 study abroad programs in 50 countries around the world that Rutgers offers.
This year’s theme was the Night Market, and students enjoyed learning about study abroad programs under the lights and partaking in treats like candy sushi, popcorn, hot dogs, and ice cream. There was also a psychic at the fair, guiding our students to their study abroad destiny. Here are photos from the event.
“The Study Abroad Fall Fair is the perfect starting point for students curious about international experiences.” said Lauren Meregalli Ferrer, Director of Study Abroad. “With short-term, long-term, faculty-led, and internship programs available, there is something for every student’s goals and schedule. Studying abroad not only enriches your education but also provides skills and perspectives that can give you an edge in your career and life.”
The number of students studying abroad at Rutgers has continued to grow over the past few years, with a record of 1,568 students studying abroad in the 2025-2026 academic year. (See our newly published 2025-2026 Rutgers Global Annual Report for more information.)
There were 50 tables set up with program providers and university partners, as well as Rutgers academic departments that run study abroad and service-learning programs, including the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, School of Management and Labor Relations, School of Public Health, School of Nursing, Rutgers Business School, and School of Social Work.
Additional tables were set up with Global Ambassadors, Rutgers students who have studied abroad and can answer questions and share their experiences, as well as with advisors offering guidance on financial aid and academic planning.
Rocio Ruiz, Assistant Director at Rutgers Global Study Abroad, noted, “We were thrilled to see so many students attend our Fall Fair having engaged conversations at our tables. We believe that more and more Rutgers students understand the value of studying abroad and we look forward to helping them achieve their goals.”
Deadlines are approaching, including October 1 for winter and spring semester programs. Students have a bit more time for spring break (embedded) programs with a deadline of December 1. The deadline for study abroad programs for the summer and fall of 2027 is February 1 or March 1, 2027. Learn more on our website.
