Rutgers Global is focused on building and strengthening ties with students, faculty, and our partners across the world, with focused engagement in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Regional Initiatives
Rutgers University is expanding its global footprint by enhancing our presence in key regions around the world, including India, South Korea, and Ghana. Through these regional offices, we will aim to facilitate student mobility, academic exchange, research collaboration, and alumni engagement, thereby strengthening our ties with the global community and advancing our mission of internationalization.

Latin America Initiative
The Rutgers Global Latin America Initiative was created in 2020 to further grow Rutgers’ presence in Latin America in order to:
- To be a gateway for every person from Latin America interested in our university, facilitating interaction with different areas within the institution.
- Generate relationships with universities, organizations, companies and governments in the region to establish collaboration at different levels
- Promote activities and projects that promote the development of individuals and institutions
- Create academic, cultural and technical training programs for students, teachers and professionals from different fields

Botswana-Rutgers Partnership
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and the Government of Botswana signed a broad agreement to launch the Botswana-Rutgers Mahube Partnership for Transformation in February 2019. This collaboration represents a unique effort between a nation and a university to address leadership, capacity-building, and knowledge transfer, as the Republic of Botswana transforms from its dependence on natural resources into a more knowledge-based economy. For Botswana, driving forces for the Partnership are national development and economic diversification.

Refugees and Migrants
Rutgers has worked to bring several dozen exceptional student and scholar refugees to campus for education and research. Rutgers has supported displaced students and scholars from Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Gaza, as well as from other places in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. We have created a fund to help support these efforts.
