Through presentations and interactive activities, students will learn more about the Rutgers campus, connect with Rutgers departments, resources, and staff, and get guidance from current Rutgers students. Through a variety of social activities, ISO is also an opportunity for students to make friends as they begin their Rutgers journey.
Friendship Fridays are a monthly opportunity for the Rutgers community to step away from classwork and research and just hang out and relax together. The Mandela Washington Fellowship—a flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI)—empowers young African leaders through academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, networking, professional opportunities, and local community engagement. This U.S. Department of State program is administered by IREX.

The Peace Corps is a 27-month long service opportunity for motivated U.S. citizens over 18 to immerse themselves in a community abroad and work alongside local leaders to tackle pressing challenges.
Rutgers and the United States Peace Corps have shared a history since 1961 when Rutgers was selected to serve as the training site for the original cohort of Peace Corps Volunteers to the Republic of Colombia. In 2015, Rutgers Global entered into an agreement with the Peace Corps to establish a Peace Corps Recruitment Office as a resource for the entire university.
