Rutgers students will have the opportunity to explore the world this fall as Rutgers Global hosts its annual Study Abroad Fall Fair on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Livingston Student Center. The event, running from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will showcase the wide range of international programs available to both undergraduate and graduate students.
This year’s fair comes at a time of strong renewed interest in global education. In 2024–25, more than 1,000 Rutgers students studied abroad, the highest participation in recent years, reflecting a growing enthusiasm for international experiences following the pandemic-era slowdown.
The fair will feature more than 50 tables representing program providers, university partners, and Rutgers departments offering study abroad and service-learning opportunities. Participating academic units include the School of Management and Labor Relations, School of Public Health, School of Nursing, Rutgers Business School, School of Social Work, and the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, as well as several language departments.
Students attending the fair can expect a lively atmosphere, with carnival-themed activities, games, and refreshments. An artist will be on hand to create caricatures, and students will have the chance to win prizes, including scholarships, through a special raffle. Application fee waivers will also be available for those who complete an interest form during the event.
In addition to connecting with program representatives, students can speak directly with Study Abroad Global Ambassadors, peers who have already studied abroad, to hear first-hand experiences. Advisors from Rutgers Global will also be present to provide guidance on topics such as financial aid, academic planning, and program selection.
“The Study Abroad Fall Fair is the perfect starting point for students curious about international experiences,” said Lauren Meregalli Ferrer, Director of Study Abroad. “With short-term, long-term, faculty-led, and internship programs available, there is something for every student’s goals and schedule. Studying abroad not only enriches your education but also provides skills and perspectives that can give you an edge.”
Application deadlines for upcoming programs are approaching: October 1 for winter and spring semester programs, December 1 for embedded spring programs, and March 1, 2026, for summer, academic year, and fall 2026 programs.
