Dublin

Dublin, the capital city of Ireland, is known for a welcoming and vibrant cultural scene, rich literary heritage, historic attractions, and access to a diversity of park spaces, beaches, and hillside trails. The city is a perfect location for students who want the amenities of a larger city, but safe and easy-to-navigate neighborhoods. Top attractions include the ancient Book of Kells, the bustling Temple Bar area with its lively pubs and restaurants, Dublin Castle with its historic significance, and the serene Phoenix Park, one of the largest enclosed urban parks in Europe.

UCD campus

University College Dublin (UCD), with 34,000 students, is the largest university in Ireland. It is located in a suburban Dublin neighborhood, about ten minutes by bus from the City Centre. The green and spacious campus is home to modern buildings which house five colleges: Agriculture/Food Science/ Veterinary Medicine; Arts & Celtic Studies; Business & Law; Engineering & Architecture; Health Sciences; Human Sciences; and Physical/Life Science. Similar to Rutgers in size, UCD offers large and comprehensive programs with distinguished and defining global-learning experiences.

Academics

The Program: The student experience will include an in-depth orientation to UCD and Dublin prior to the start of classes. UCD offers hands-on support and resources to guide a student’s transition to college and offer a unique experience abroad.

Distinctive Activities: UCD offers all the vibrant student experiences that you would expect at a top national university. Start Global students will have the opportunity to engage in student clubs and societies where they can meet local students as they explore everything from cities to countryside.  Weekend experiences are organized by the university and include music, theatre and comedy shows; national parks and heritage sites; hiking and cycling trips; castle, cave and factory tours!

A tentative list of course offerings can be found, here.  More information on course offerings will be made available in early April.
