CIEE Intern in London

Program Locations

City of London

England, United Kingdom

London is the center of everything British—culture, politics, finance, history, and royalty—but also a world capital with a huge multinational population. Cultural highlights range from St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London to the new British Library and Tate Modern art gallery. Once you’ve mastered the London Underground (also known as The Tube) and bus system, you’ll be ready to check out Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, and everything else London has to offer in terms of shopping, nightlife, parks, and recreation. More than 250 languages are spoken here in the capital of the United Kingdom, making London the most linguistically diverse city in the world. In addition, London is at the cutting-edge of the arts scene and provides access to music, fashion, museums, comedy, and theater.

Our CIEE Summer Global Internship programs combine a full-time internship with an integrated academic seminar to provide professional exploration and specific skills development. You’ll learn to contextualize real-world experience while learning about local business culture, intercultural communication, professional development, and linkages between local and global industry trends.

You’ll be guaranteed an unpaid internship placement at a local business or organization, where you’ll work up to 30 hours a week. CIEE will work with you to find the closest placement match between your professional and personal goals with what’s available in London.

You will be placed in an internship within your sector but the final placement site is dependent upon which company selects you. Having an international internship experience is a wonderful addition to your resume. By paying the program deposit students are acknowledging their commitment to this professional experience. CIEE will work closely with business partners and organizations to arrange a placement within your chosen field. However, placement within a specific organization is never guaranteed, nor is it reason to be released from the parameters of the withdrawal policy.

Students interning in London are placed with companies ranging from innovative start-ups to global organizations, multinationals, and NGOs in a variety of industry sectors.
