In 2012, Rutgers established a Myanmar faculty interest group to explore ways in which the university could formalize relationships with institutions in the country. Rutgers’ participation in the IIE IAPP Myanmar program paved the way for:

Faculty are also taking part in Myanmar activities in other ways, such as a mentorship program that helps public health graduate and Ph.D. students from Myanmar through the NIH-established ITREOH Center.

Other faculty ad hoc committees are focused on Brazil, Cuba, and India.
