As part of its commitment to "Jersey Roots, Global Reach," Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, established the Centers for Global Advancement and International Affairs (GAIA Centers). The office is composed of four pillars: Global Education, Global Programs, Global Relations, and Global Services. GAIA works toward developing an all-inclusive, campus-wide set of international and global initiatives and services, facilitating collaborative projects and strategic partnerships around the world, and expanding faculty, staff and students' opportunities for international study and research. This is achieved through innovative programming and new opportunities in areas such as International Service Learning as a part of the Study Abroad programs, and through our Rutgers partnership with the United Nations Department of Public Information. Our Center for International Faculty and Student Services welcomes our international scholars and students.

On this website you can find information about Rutgers' involvement internationally and globally. Our "Around the World" map visually represents Rutgers' programs for students, faculty research expertise and individual schools' initiatives worldwide. If you wish to know more about specific Rutgers regional involvement, choose one of the six world regions and explore what Rutgers faculty are doing, what students opportunities exist and which academic units offer the most relevant curriculum and degree programs. In addition, a specific focus on the countries within these regions, where the university has its strongest connections, will give you a sense of our local engagements.

So many exciting things are happening at Rutgers! We hope that during the year you will join the many events held on-campus, such as the events offered as part of our biennial theme— Technologies Without Borders: Technologies Across Borders— as well as the many international and global events hosted by schools, departments and other units throughout the University.

Come back often to find out more about local and worldwide events, conferences, faculty research work, news stories, special recognitions, student projects, travel advisories, and funding opportunities. You can also join our electronic mailing list or visit us at our new location come October at 30 College Ave on the New Brunswick Campus.

Please look around our new Centers for Global Advancement and International Affairs site. We hope this is a place you will come back to time and time again to explore, learn, and enjoy!
