Peace Corps at Rutgers

Rutgers and the United States Peace Corps have a 54-year history that started in 1961 when Rutgers was selected to serve as the training site for the original cohort of Peace Corps Volunteers headed to the Republic of Colombia. Rutgers–Camden established the first master’s international program with the Peace Corps in 1987, in conjunction with the Department of Public Policy and Administration; SEBS followed suit in 2015 with the same program. Rutgers–Camden has also participated in the Paul D. Coverdell Fellows program since 2005.  In 2015, the GAIA Centers entered into an agreement with the Peace Corps to establish the first Rutgers' Peace Corps recruitment office to be located at 30 College Avenue in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
